Tregorrick Celts preparing to play against Charlestown MSC for the 2nd time in 2 weeks, both teams were in very good spirits before the match started due to the snow falling in abundance and lots of excitement could be felt coming from both sides.

After the starting whistle the Celts were straight into MSC applying pressure from the off and pushing towards MSC’s goal where they forced an own goal following a George Truscott strike.

The next goal came form Cally Rundle following a perfectly executed long pass from George Truscott.

Dillon Frise then made an unprecedented run with the ball only to be stopped by an admiral save from MSC’s Keeper, Cally Rundle then pitched in a well placed corner which was sent just past the far post from a Jamie Franks header, pressure was on for MSC and George Truscott played another perfect cross into the area which was stopped yet again by MSC keeper.

Not to be deterred it was George Truscott’s turn hit the back of MSC’s net to get the Celts 3rd goal following a sweetly struck cross from Cally Rundle.

The Celts were on a roll and looking good, with the whole team moving and passing the ball well, another corner to the Celts which was met by George Truscott who laid it off to Dillon Frise to claim his 1st goal by placing the ball in to the bottom left of MSC goal. MSC won a corner, which was blocked by Nathan Retallick who passed the ball to Dillon Frise in his own area who then ran the length of the pitch beating MSC defenders to get his 2nd goal.

Second half and the Celts came out a little too relaxed and MSC were quick to pick up on that and in the first minute MSC’s Callum Bertrand managed to beat the Celts Keeper Tom Rowe to get MSC’s first goal, this was quickly followed by another Callum Bertrand run to get his 2nd goal for MSC making the score 5 - 2 to the Celts, The Celts realised the game wasn’t won yet and turned on the heat again, James Venning took control of the mid field making sure that any advance from MSC was swiftly dealt George Truscott was making good use of the width of the pitch and made anther wonderful cross which was planted firmly in the back of MSC goal by Dillon Frise to claim his hat-trick.

MSC were on the advance again and the Celts Sam Webb made a perfectly timed tackle to win the ball and passed to George Truscott who then made his own long run to claim his 2nd goal of the match making the score 7 -2.

Cally rundle then took possession of the ball and with some Ronaldo like footwork he weaved up the pitch to get his 2nd goal of the day.

Last 3 minutes and Jack Curley took a Celt throw in which found Jamie Franks who again worked his magic to get the final goal of the day ending the match 9 - 2 to the Celts.

East Cornwall Youth League U9B

On a cold and windy day the Titans started the brighter and scored an early goal through Jordan Cooper he picked up the ball just outside the box and drilled his shot pass the Charlestown keeper. A fine strike by Jack Williams made it 2-0 and a great goal by Nathan Allen brought up the third goal, he made a great challenge in the Charlestown half and collected the ball to slot the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. Charlestown had an opportunity to score when they won a penalty , but unfortunately the Charlestown striker blazed his shot over the bar. Just to rub it in the Titans went up the other end and Jack Williams delivered a great cross which lead to a Charlestown defender putting the ball into his own net. Just on the stroke of half time the Titans won a penalty and Jack Williams stepped up and tucked away the penalty to score his second goal and go in at half time 5-0 up.

The second half was a close affair the the Titans goalkeeper Oliver Burt making some fine saves and some last ditch tackles from Matt Retallick and Jacob Summerwill kept out the Charlestown strikers. On the break the impressive partnership of Jordan Cooper and Jack Williams combined again with Cooper scoring his 18th goal of the season, this capped a fine performance from the Titans.

2-2-2 BURT, RETALLICK, SUMMERWILL, POMERY, ALLEN, COOPER, WILLIAMS SUB: GLENDENEN.

Well the score line tells it all (nearly).

The Celts visited Charlestown MSC at their ground and played their hearts out, resulting in a dramatic score line, which was totally deserved.

With only 7 of the squad able to play the Celts were more than ready to get this match started, and all it took was about 30 seconds for Cally Rundle to get the first goal of the day.

James Venning followed it up with the 2nd and Sam Webb got the 3rd (and his first as a Celt), with James Venning eagerly following again with the 4th. The 5th came from a Cally Rundle screamer. George Truscott netted the 6th with a well-placed shot.

Jamie Franks managed to get on the end of a perfect corner to header in the 7th goal of the game.

Half time was upon us and all the boys were looking more action and manager Graham Frise was looking for more fingers to count on.

Second half and as the Celts were attacking up hill this time they started a rotation system, all taking turns in defence to have a bit of a breather, but they still kept attacking MSC’s keeper with shots flying in from every angle. Dillon Frise just missed the far post with another flying header from a Cally Rundle corner.

After a while playing up hill started to take its toll on the Celts but they dug in deep to prevent any attempts that Charlestown could muster from doing any damage. Jamie Franks put the final nail in the coffin when he made a long run up the field passing nearly all of MSC’s players and then planting it firmly in the bottom corner of the net to get the 8th and final goal of the match.

Tom Rowe (Keeper) all though he had a quiet game, when needed to did pull some very good saves out of the bag and managed to keep a clean sheet.

Squad: Tom Rowe (Keeper), Jamie Franks, Sam Webb, George Truscott, James Venning (Capt.), Dillon Frise and Cally Rundle.

Managers Comment “The Celts played very good football today and totally dominated the field, they played well as a team and were unlucky not to get more goals”.

Well done you Celts.

The Celts played their first league game since 5th Jan home against Mount Bodmin on Sunday 24th Feb, and what a game it was.

After deciding to play the Celts on the larger pitch coach Graham Frise received calls about 2 players unable to play due to sickness.

Decision time, play on the large pitch with fewer subs, or use our normal pitch!! lets go for the larger pitch and see how the boys do.

The Celts knew that the game would be a hard fought battle as Mount Bomin are as always a hard team to crack and from the starting whistle the Celts were straight into Bodmin, using the width of the pitch to their advantage when possible and creating some very impressive plays.

Cally Rundle proved he was too much of a match for Bodmins defensive line on more than one occasion by using his speed and ball control, he got round them and made a lovelly cross to James and George, but the attack was stopped by Bodmins goalkeeper.

Dillon Frise, James Venning, George Truscott and Sam Webb worked the midfield well, with good communication and solid tackles, they helped push the ball towards the Bodmin goal again, but again they were prevented from finishing the move by Bodmins defensive line and able goalie.

The game turned and Bodmin were on the attack, Jamie Franks and Jack Curley protected their goal with excellent team work. Jamie took a nasty knock to his head when a Bodmin player challeneged with a high boot. Credit to Jamies strength and detemination and after a break he was back in there.

Second half and both teams were working hard and looking for the first goal of the match, the Celts broke and attacked Bomins goal with a hard attack the Celts won a penalty after “hand ball in the area”. Cally Rundle stood there, eyes fixed on his target, shot, GOAL. 1 - 0 to the Celts.

Both Teams tried hard for the remainder of the game, and Tom Rowe showing his excellent goal keeping skills and bravery by closing down his attackers and clearing corners.

Final Score Tregorrick Celts 1 - 0 Mount Bodmin

The Celts played good solid team football today and in my opinion it was a well deserved victory, well done “You Celts”

Grae Frise. Manager Tregorrick Celts.

The Belles started brightly, putting early pressure on the Helston goal. The Helston defence stood firm and fought hard to prevent the Belles from scoring. Then it was the Belles turn to defend and they did so well with goalkeeper Kayleigh pulling off a couple of great saves.

More pressure from the Belles saw the midfield of Beth T and Sarah playing some good passing football into Beth W up front. The pressure eventually told with Beth W scoring in the midst of a goal mouth scramble, so the Belles went in at half time one nil up.

The Belles came out for the second half determined to build on their lead. They attacked the Helston goal and their pressure told with Beth W scoring her second.

A quick goal kick from goalkeeper Kayleigh to Emma who knocked the ball into the path of striker Beth W lead to the Belles third goal and a hat-trick for Beth W.

More strong running and tackling from the midfield pairing of Beth T and Sarah lead to Beth W scoring a fourth goal. Shortly after Sarah fired a free-kick just over the Helston goal.

A late cross into the Helston box from Beth T lead to one of the Helston players knocking the ball into her own net, giving the Belles their fifth goal.

Defenders Emma, Sophie and in the first half Kelly-Ann and second half Zoe all played well restricting Helstons chances to score.

Manager Tracey Jolliffe said “It was a great all round team performance and I’m very proud of all the team.”

Team: Kayleigh Emma Sophie Kelly-Ann Zoe Beth T Sarah Beth W
