Tregorrick Celts 1 - Mount Bodmin 0

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The Celts played their first league game since 5th Jan home against Mount Bodmin on Sunday 24th Feb, and what a game it was.

After deciding to play the Celts on the larger pitch coach Graham Frise received calls about 2 players unable to play due to sickness.

Decision time, play on the large pitch with fewer subs, or use our normal pitch!! lets go for the larger pitch and see how the boys do.

The Celts knew that the game would be a hard fought battle as Mount Bomin are as always a hard team to crack and from the starting whistle the Celts were straight into Bodmin, using the width of the pitch to their advantage when possible and creating some very impressive plays.

Cally Rundle proved he was too much of a match for Bodmins defensive line on more than one occasion by using his speed and ball control, he got round them and made a lovelly cross to James and George, but the attack was stopped by Bodmins goalkeeper.

Dillon Frise, James Venning, George Truscott and Sam Webb worked the midfield well, with good communication and solid tackles, they helped push the ball towards the Bodmin goal again, but  again they were prevented from finishing the move by Bodmins defensive line and able goalie.

The game turned and Bodmin were on the attack, Jamie Franks and Jack Curley protected their goal with excellent team work. Jamie took a nasty knock to his head when a Bodmin player challeneged with a high boot. Credit to Jamies strength and detemination and after a break he was back in there.

Second half and both teams were working hard and looking for the first goal of the match, the Celts broke and attacked Bomins goal with a hard attack the Celts won a penalty after “hand ball in the area”. Cally Rundle stood there, eyes fixed on his target, shot, GOAL. 1 - 0 to the Celts.

Both Teams tried hard for the remainder of the game, and Tom Rowe showing his excellent goal keeping skills and bravery by closing down his attackers and clearing corners.

Final Score Tregorrick Celts 1 - 0 Mount Bodmin

The Celts played good solid team football today and in my opinion it was a well deserved victory, well done “You Celts”
