Well Done You “Celts”
Monday, April 16th, 2007Tregorrick Celts (U8’s) have now completed their first season of league football in the East Cornwall League, finishing in 5th position in the league and what a season it was.
By entering the league a year early it would be an understatement to say that we had a huge learning curve ahead of us, both myself and the boys but they were really up to the challenge.
I think the best way to illustrate just how much the Celts learnt and improved as a team during the season is with results we had against Roche U9’s.
Roche U9’s was our first ever league game and we were truly beaten 11 - 0. (really close game) but in just 11 matches later we had the pleasure of playing Roche again, this time Roche had to fight hard to beat us 2 - 1, after the Celts held them 1 - 1 for 90% of the game with only the bare 7 players.
During the season we totalled 41 goals, Names and Goals scored are as follows;
| Cally Rundle | 14 |
| James Venning | 7 |
| George Truscott | 6 |
| Jamie Franks | 5 |
| Dillon Frise | 4 |
Of course none of these goals would have happened if it wasn’t for the remaining team members;
Jack Curley,
Jamie Gough,
Nathan Retallick,
Will James,
Ross Osbourne,
Mat Retallick.
I am very proud of all the boys and hope they are equally proud of their selves and their team mates, because they should be.
This season has proved to be very beneficial, with all the squad improving at a steady rate and growing as a team and next season should be just as good, especially as we will be playing boys of our own age group.
Also lets not forget that none of this would have been achievable if it wasn’t for the dedicated training from our U8’s coaches Lea Cooper and Nigel Thomas, and parent helpers Anthony Gough and Mike Chapman and the support of the parents.
Again Well Done you “Celts” and bring on the Tournaments
