Mount Bodmin United 1 - 4 Tregorrick Titans

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

This was a closely contested 1st half, with the Titans taking an early lead through Mat Retallick, his sweetly struck shot just squeezed past the Mount goalkeeper.

The ever-impressive Oliver Burt pulled off some fine saves, but with 20 seconds of the first half a defensive error lead to Mount scoring the equaliser.

The second half began with both teams pressing hard but it was Jack Williams who travelled down the wing and unleashed a stunning shot beating the goalie at his near post.

The game was settled when an excellent cross from Jack Williams was met by Jordan Coopers volley only to be saved by the Mount Goalkeeper but there was Brandon Pomery to tap in the Titans 3rd goal. The 4th and best goal was scored by Man Of The Match Jacob Summerwill who picked up the ball in his own area and beat 4 players before striking the ball into the top corner, which capped a great, all round performance by Jacob.

The Titans next entertain Padstow in their last game of the season.

Tregorrick Celts V Charlestown MSC

6th April 2008 ECYFL

Tregorrick Celts preparing to play against Charlestown MSC for the 2nd time in 2 weeks, both teams were in very good spirits before the match started due to the snow falling in abundance and lots of excitement could be felt coming from both sides.

After the starting whistle the Celts were straight into MSC applying pressure from the off and pushing towards MSC’s goal where they forced an own goal following a George Truscott strike.

The next goal came form Cally Rundle following a perfectly executed long pass from George Truscott.

Dillon Frise then made an unprecedented run with the ball only to be stopped by an admiral save from MSC’s Keeper, Cally Rundle then pitched in a well placed corner which was sent just past the far post from a Jamie Franks header, pressure was on for MSC and George Truscott played another perfect cross into the area which was stopped yet again by MSC keeper.

Not to be deterred it was George Truscott’s turn hit the back of MSC’s net to get the Celts 3rd goal following a sweetly struck cross from Cally Rundle.

The Celts were on a roll and looking good, with the whole team moving and passing the ball well, another corner to the Celts which was met by George Truscott who laid it off to Dillon Frise to claim his 1st goal by placing the ball in to the bottom left of MSC goal. MSC won a corner, which was blocked by Nathan Retallick who passed the ball to Dillon Frise in his own area who then ran the length of the pitch beating MSC defenders to get his 2nd goal.

Second half and the Celts came out a little too relaxed and MSC were quick to pick up on that and in the first minute MSC’s Callum Bertrand managed to beat the Celts Keeper Tom Rowe to get MSC’s first goal, this was quickly followed by another Callum Bertrand run to get his 2nd goal for MSC making the score 5 - 2 to the Celts, The Celts realised the game wasn’t won yet and turned on the heat again, James Venning took control of the mid field making sure that any advance from MSC was swiftly dealt George Truscott was making good use of the width of the pitch and  made anther wonderful cross which was planted firmly in the back of MSC goal by Dillon Frise to claim his hat-trick.

MSC were on the advance again and the Celts Sam Webb made a perfectly timed tackle to win the ball and passed to George Truscott who then made his own long run to claim his 2nd goal of the match making the score 7 -2.

Cally rundle then took possession of the ball and with some Ronaldo like footwork he weaved up the pitch to get his 2nd goal of the day.

Last 3 minutes and Jack Curley took a Celt throw in which found Jamie Franks who again worked his magic to get the final goal of the day ending the match 9 - 2 to the Celts.

Tregorrick Titans 6 - Charlestown HIQ 0

East Cornwall Youth League U9B

On a cold and windy day the Titans started the brighter and scored an early goal through  Jordan Cooper he picked up the ball just outside the box and drilled his shot pass the Charlestown keeper.  A fine strike by Jack Williams made it 2-0 and a great goal by Nathan Allen brought up the third goal, he made a great challenge in the Charlestown half and collected the ball to slot the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.  Charlestown had an opportunity to score when they won a penalty , but unfortunately the Charlestown striker blazed his shot over the bar.  Just to rub it in the Titans went up the other end and Jack Williams delivered a great cross which lead to a Charlestown defender putting the ball into his own net. Just on the stroke of half  time the Titans won a penalty and Jack Williams stepped up and tucked away the penalty to score his second goal and go in at half time 5-0 up.

The second half was a close affair the the Titans goalkeeper Oliver Burt making some fine saves and some last ditch tackles from Matt Retallick and Jacob Summerwill kept out the Charlestown strikers.  On the break the impressive partnership of Jordan Cooper and Jack Williams combined again with Cooper scoring his 18th goal of the season, this capped a fine performance from the Titans.

Charlestown MSC 0 - 8 Tregorrick Celts

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Sunday 16th March 2008 ECYFL

Well the score line tells it all (nearly).

The Celts visited Charlestown MSC at their ground and played their hearts out, resulting in a dramatic score line, which was totally deserved.

With only 7 of the squad able to play the Celts were more than ready to get this match started, and all it took was about 30 seconds for Cally Rundle to get the first goal of the day.

James Venning followed it up with the 2nd and Sam Webb got the 3rd (and his first as a Celt), with James Venning eagerly following again with the 4th. The 5th came from a Cally Rundle screamer. George Truscott netted the 6th with a well-placed shot.

Jamie Franks managed to get on the end of a perfect corner to header in the 7th goal of the game.

Half time was upon us and all the boys were looking more action and manager Graham Frise was looking for more fingers to count on.

Second half and as the Celts were attacking up hill this time they started a rotation system, all taking turns in defence to have a bit of a breather, but they still kept attacking MSC’s keeper with shots flying in from every angle. Dillon Frise just missed the far post with another flying header from a Cally Rundle corner.

After a while playing up hill started to take its toll on the Celts but they dug in deep to prevent any attempts that Charlestown could muster from doing any damage. Jamie Franks put the final nail in the coffin when he made a long run up the field passing nearly all of MSC’s players and then planting it firmly in the bottom corner of the net to get the 8th and final goal of the match.

Tom Rowe (Keeper) all though he had a quiet game, when needed to did pull some very good saves out of the bag and managed to keep a clean sheet.

Squad: Tom Rowe (Keeper), Jamie Franks, Sam Webb, George Truscott, James Venning (Capt.), Dillon Frise and Cally Rundle.

Managers Comment “The Celts played very good football today and totally dominated the field, they played well as a team and were unlucky not to get more goals”.

Well done you Celts.

Tregorrick Celts V Charlestown Youth (E.C.Y.F.L) 9th March 08

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Tregorrick Celts played host to their local rivals Charlestown Youth on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon at Tregorrick Park YFC, St Austell.

With both managers hoping the weather would hold off for just a little longer, the match started and within the first 5 minutes, after scruffy play Charlestown managed to get the ball fed through Tregorricks defence to get the first goal of the day.

Then the weather decided to play its part, with rain, hail and sleet driving down with force it was decided the boys should take shelter until it cleared.

Game on again and the Celts soon equalised following a Dillon Frise throw in to James Venning who collected the ball calmly and laid it off to Cally Rundle, who fizzed the ball past Charlestown’s goalie and into the back of the net, making it 1 – 1.  With the score line tied the Celts were on the advance, George Truscott played a lovely through ball to Cally Rundle who then set it up perfectly for Dillon Frise to bury in the back of the net, 2 – 1 to the Celts.Jamie Franks fired a succession of quality corners into Charlestown’s area, testing their defenders and goalie on numerous occasions, followed by a cracking shot from James Venning which made Charlestown’s goalie pull an athletic save out of the hat.  Charlestown were equally determined to test the Celts defensive line of Jamie Franks and Jack Curley who between them made it very hard for Charlestown’s strikers to advance and a free kick was finally awarded to them, with 3 people in the wall the Celts stood their ground with Dillon Frise managing to block the shot, Charlestown however followed it up quickly and managed to get one past the Celts goalie Tom Rowe making the score 2 – 2.Sam Webb came on to replace Jack Curley and after a quick shuffle of positions he settled down in mid-field for the Celts, working with George Truscott and James Venning as a unit, they made some good advancing game play.  Cally Rundle tried to get the elusive third goal for the Celts with a high struck penalty, followed quickly with another shot striking the post of Charlestown’s goal.

Celts manager Graham Frise said, this match had all the makings of a local derby that wouldn’t have been out of place on M.O.T.D.

Both teams played good quality football with passion and determination in abundance.

Final score Tregorrick Celts 2 – 2 Charlestown Youth

Celts squad: Tom Rowe*, Jack Curley, Jamie Franks, James Venning (cpt), George truscott, Sam Webb, Dillon Frise, Cally Rundle.

Well Done “You Celts”.

Tregorrick Celts 1 - Mount Bodmin 0

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The Celts played their first league game since 5th Jan home against Mount Bodmin on Sunday 24th Feb, and what a game it was.

After deciding to play the Celts on the larger pitch coach Graham Frise received calls about 2 players unable to play due to sickness.

Decision time, play on the large pitch with fewer subs, or use our normal pitch!! lets go for the larger pitch and see how the boys do.

The Celts knew that the game would be a hard fought battle as Mount Bomin are as always a hard team to crack and from the starting whistle the Celts were straight into Bodmin, using the width of the pitch to their advantage when possible and creating some very impressive plays.

Cally Rundle proved he was too much of a match for Bodmins defensive line on more than one occasion by using his speed and ball control, he got round them and made a lovelly cross to James and George, but the attack was stopped by Bodmins goalkeeper.

Dillon Frise, James Venning, George Truscott and Sam Webb worked the midfield well, with good communication and solid tackles, they helped push the ball towards the Bodmin goal again, but  again they were prevented from finishing the move by Bodmins defensive line and able goalie.

The game turned and Bodmin were on the attack, Jamie Franks and Jack Curley protected their goal with excellent team work. Jamie took a nasty knock to his head when a Bodmin player challeneged with a high boot. Credit to Jamies strength and detemination and after a break he was back in there.

Second half and both teams were working hard and looking for the first goal of the match, the Celts broke and attacked Bomins goal with a hard attack the Celts won a penalty after “hand ball in the area”. Cally Rundle stood there, eyes fixed on his target, shot, GOAL. 1 - 0 to the Celts.

Both Teams tried hard for the remainder of the game, and Tom Rowe showing his excellent goal keeping skills and bravery by closing down his attackers and clearing corners.

Final Score Tregorrick Celts 1 - 0 Mount Bodmin

The Celts played good solid team football today and in my opinion it was a well deserved victory, well done “You Celts”

Grae Frise. Manager Tregorrick Celts.

Tregorrick Titans - Padstow U9

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Saturday 10th November and the Titans were away to Padstow U9. With a 10 eager waiting to start the game and with the Titans sat in the middle of the league table, this proved to be a thrilling match.

With good passing skills throughout the squad it wasn’t long before a Jack Williams made a long pass, which Nathan Allen cleverly dummied taking the attention from the ball until it was at the sure footed Jordan Cooper and Bang. It was 1 - 0 to the Titans.

Centre spot again and they were off, with end to end play, The Titans were playing some of their best football, clean, accurate passes, then with a bit of luck Padstow were able to come back 1 -1. Game on.

With 5 mins left of the second half and some spectacular off the line saves form our GK Ollie Burt, it was still 1 - 1, then all of a sudden, with a Taylor Chapman long throw special, Jordan Cooper was in again, and it was 2 - 1.

I would like to thank the squad, Katie G, Jacob S, Matt R, Brandon P, Joe R, Jack W, Jordan C, Taylor C, Nathan A and Ollie B, for their outstanding display of football and it was a pleasure to stand in and take the match in Manager Lea Coopers absence.

Tregorrick Celts V Wadebridge U9

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Tregorrick Celts 2 - 2 Wadebridge U9

The Celts were home to Wadebridge U9′S on Saturday 11th November for a prestigious top of the league match, and boy was it a good one.

After all the boys from both teams observing a minute’s silence, the match was on. It didn’t take the Celts long to start the scoring, with Nathan Retallick crossing the ball beautifully to Cally Rundle after running ¾ of the pitch with the ball, allowing Cally to put it in the back of the net.

Then it was wadebridge’s turn to score, with the Celts defenders struggling to clear the ball from our penalty area, Wadebridge sneaked a ball in, 1 –1. The second half was on, with the game increasing in pace with every minute, Wadebridge managed to get a ball just over the top our G.K Tom Rowe, Giving them a 2-1 lead.

Jamie Gough after sprinting back, cleared the ball from our goal line with impeccable timing, preventing Wadebridge from going 3-1 up.

Substitutions were made and with about 10 seconds remaining George Truscott laid on an perfectly executed pass to Dillon Frise, who without hesitation slammed it into Wadebridge’s goal, 2 –2.

Jamie Franks then made a crucial interception after Wadebridge shot for goal from the centre spot.

With all the boys playing good solid football, the Celts came away with 1 point, which means we are still tied in second place with only goal differences holding us off the top spot.

Squad; Jack Curley (GK), Tome Rowe (GK), Jamie Franks (LB), Jamie Gough (RB), James Venning (Capt)(MF), Dillon Frise (MF), Nathan Retallick (MF) George Truscott (CF), Cally Rundle (CF)

Well done you Celts

Tregorrick Titans 1 - Liskeard 6 (13th October 2007)

Monday, October 15th, 2007

The Titans returned to league action with a home match against Liskeard, this with no doubt would be the toughest test for the Titans after winning their earlier two fixtures comfortably. The game kicked off and no little after 1 minutes worth of play Liskeard breached Ollie Burts goal for the first time this season, but the Titans heads did not drop and they battled well with Ollie making several top class saves, the defence of Matt Rettalick and Jacob Summerwill had their work cut out but were well up to the task but it was Liskeard who scored again with an excellent worked team goal. The midfield of Katie Glendenen, Joe Rabjohns and Brandon Pomery had to work exceptionally hard against a very quick and skillfull midfield from Liskeard, Liskeard won a corner with 30 seconds of the half remaining and it was an unfortunate deflection from the corner which presented a Liskeard player with an easy tap in to make it 3-0 to Liskeard at half time. The second half kicked of and Jordan Cooper went close with a snap shot, this encouraged the Titans to play a better passing game with Joe Rabjohns pushing up front to support Jack Williams, but in doing this it left gaps for Liskeard to attack and a wonderful strike from a Liskeard player from about 20 yards out finished of the game, Ollie Burt continued to make some wonderful saves, but unfortunately this could not stop Liskeard from scoring 2 more goals. With time running out the Titans pushed forward to try and score at least one goal and their never give up attitude paid off with a fine strike by Jordan Cooper being saved by the Liskeard keeper resulting the Titans only corner of the game and a fine delivery from Joe Rabjohns led to Jack Williams volleying the ball into the net and the Titans had deservedly scored a goal (All be it a consolation). Final score 6-1 to Liskeard. This was a good learning curve for the Titans who never gave up for the whole 40mins of the game against an outstanding Liskeard team (which should be in the A league!!!!). FORMATION (2-2-2) Ollie Burt, Matt Retallick, Jacob Summerwill, Katie Glendenen, Joe Rabjohns, Brandon Pomery, Jordan Cooper, Jack Williams. (STARMAN) Ollie Burt
