Tregorrick Celts 2 - 2 Wadebridge U9

The Celts were home to Wadebridge U9′S on Saturday 11th November for a prestigious top of the league match, and boy was it a good one.

After all the boys from both teams observing a minute’s silence, the match was on. It didn’t take the Celts long to start the scoring, with Nathan Retallick crossing the ball beautifully to Cally Rundle after running ¾ of the pitch with the ball, allowing Cally to put it in the back of the net.

Then it was wadebridge’s turn to score, with the Celts defenders struggling to clear the ball from our penalty area, Wadebridge sneaked a ball in, 1 –1. The second half was on, with the game increasing in pace with every minute, Wadebridge managed to get a ball just over the top our G.K Tom Rowe, Giving them a 2-1 lead.

Jamie Gough after sprinting back, cleared the ball from our goal line with impeccable timing, preventing Wadebridge from going 3-1 up.

Substitutions were made and with about 10 seconds remaining George Truscott laid on an perfectly executed pass to Dillon Frise, who without hesitation slammed it into Wadebridge’s goal, 2 –2.

Jamie Franks then made a crucial interception after Wadebridge shot for goal from the centre spot.

With all the boys playing good solid football, the Celts came away with 1 point, which means we are still tied in second place with only goal differences holding us off the top spot.
