Tregorrick Celts, Shoe Boy Trophy
Congratulations to Tregorrick Celts for finishing Runners up in the Shoe Boy Trophy at St Tudy on Saturday 6th October.
It was a hard fought day with the Celts first match against our dear friends Tregorrick Titans, and as soon as the whistle blew both teams were hard at it, playing excellent team football, (even if there was a little barracking from the Titans Manager Lea Cooper), half time and the score was 0 / 0, and I was starting to think that we would never hear the end of it if we drew or worst lost this monumental match, Thankfully the game turned in the Celts favour and Cally Rundle was able to put the ball in the back of the Titans net twice, (sorry Ollie) finishing the game 2 / 0 to the Celts. Our next match was against Charlestown HiQ. With The Celts on a high from winning the previous match, Nathan Retallick scored the only and winning goal of the match, ending 1 / 0 to the Celts. Wadebridge was the Celts third team to face, and based on past history this was sure to be a hard game, Both teams played excellent football, with George Truscott and Dillon Frise trying to make plays to feed in James Venning and Cally Rundle, But Wadebridge proved just as strong with the defensive skills of Jamie Gough and Jamie Franks being tried but not beaten the Celts kept another clean sheet, ending the game with a 0 / 0 draw. Next up we had the pleasure of playing Camelford, The Celts hadn’t let in a goal so far and were more than ready to get this game started, with good passing play, it didn’t take long for the goals to start coming, with Jamie Franks and James Venning (Capt) both scoring 1 each and Cally Rundle planting another 2 goals, finishing off 4 / 0 to the Celts. Having already made it to the finals our last League game was against Probus, and by having a good relationship with this club, the Celts knew this would not be a walk in the park. The game started and the Celts went 1 / 0 up with a cracking goal from Cally. Unfortunately Probus were just as determined and playing for a place in the finals, managed to sneak 2 goals past our Goal keepers, Jack Curley and Tom Rowe, finishing the game 2 / 1 to Probus. Well the Final was here and we were up against Probus again, As in the previous match, both teams played excellent football, with end to end play, at half time it was 1 / 0 to Probus, the Celts turned up the pressure but just couldnt change the score line, finishing the Final 1 / 0 to Probus. The Celts played like a winning team and I am very proud of them especially as they displayed Good sportsman ship by applauding Probus whilst they collected their trophy, I would like to congratulate James Venning (Capt), Jack Curley, Tom Rowe, Jamie Gough, Jamie Franks, Nathan Retallick, George Truscott, Dillon Frise and Cally Rundle on great days football and an excellent result.
Well done you Celts
Many Thanks
Grae Frise (Celts Manager)
